Rep. Farenthold’s Statement on the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Act

10509532_10152208854661818_8053023870013070183_nWASHINGTON, DC – Today, January 7, 2015, Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 23, the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Act: 

“Today, I voted to reauthorize the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Act (NWIRA). This is a program that provides greater taxpayer transparency while reducing the cost of future windstorm damage. The NWIRA establishes research priorities and further promotes coordination between agencies at federal and state levels.  As Texas looks to update, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, this act will help guide the legislature through the development of new rules, rates, and safety protocols that save lives.”

The House passed H.R. 23 on a bipartisan vote of 381-39, with Rep. Farenthold supporting passage.
